Quick Itinerary #1: Iceland's Golden Glow

(5 Days)

Think you can't conquer Iceland's highlights in five days? Challenge accepted! This whirlwind adventure is packed with iconic sights and enough natural beauty to make your jaw drop.

  • Day 1: Reykjavik City Vibes & Blue Lagoon Bliss. Arrive at Keflavík (KEF) and pick up your rental car (essential for Iceland!). Head straight to Reykjavik, Iceland's vibrant capital, to check into your hotel. Spend the afternoon exploring the colourful streets, visiting Hallgrímskirkja church, and perhaps taking a stroll by the Harpa Concert Hall. End your day with a truly iconic Icelandic experience: a rejuvenating soak in the milky blue, geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon.

  • Day 2: The Golden Circle Majesty. Today is all about the famous Golden Circle! Prepare for a day of spectacular natural wonders. Witness the powerful Gullfoss waterfall, where glacial water thunders into a deep canyon. Marvel at the geothermal area of Geysir, home to the erupting Strokkur geyser. Finally, explore Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, and where Iceland's parliament was established in 930 AD.

  • Day 3: South Coast Wonders – Waterfalls & Black Sand. Head south along Route 1 (the Ring Road) for a day of breathtaking scenery. Your first stops are the magnificent waterfalls: Seljalandsfoss (where you can walk behind the falls!) and  Skógafoss. Continue to the dramatic black sand beach of Reynisfjara, with its basalt columns and powerful waves. Be sure to visit the charming village of Vík í Mýrdal.

  • Day 4: Glacier Adventures or Reykjanes Peninsula. Choose your adventure! You could opt for an exhilarating glacier hike on Sólheimajökull (guided tour required, book in advance!). Or, if you prefer a more relaxed pace, explore more of the Reykjanes Peninsula including the Bridge Between Continents and the bubbling mud pots of Gunnuhver. Return to Reykjavik in the evening.

  • Day 5: Farewell Iceland. Depending on your flight schedule, grab some last-minute Icelandic souvenirs, enjoy a final stroll in Reykjavik, or revisit a favourite spot before heading back to Keflavík for your departure.

Quick Itinerary #2: South Coast & Snaefellsnes

(7 Days)

Want a taste of Iceland's most famous natural wonders combined with a charming peninsula often called "Iceland in Miniature"? This 7-day adventure is perfect for hitting those bucket-list spots.

  • Days 1-2: Reykjavik & Golden Circle. Follow the highlights from the "Iceland's Golden Glow" itinerary. Settle into Reykjavik and experience the Golden Circle's natural marvels.

  • Day 3: South Coast Waterfalls & Black Sand. Head east along the South Coast. Stop at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Explore the dramatic Reynisfjara black sand beach and the charming village of Vík. Consider staying overnight in the Vík area to break up the drive.

  • Day 4: Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon & Diamond Beach. Continue further east to the mesmerizing Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where colossal icebergs calve from a glacier and drift towards the sea. Witness them sparkle on the black sands of Diamond Beach nearby. This is truly a magical experience. Drive back west towards the Hella or Selfoss area for overnight.

  • Day 5: Snæfellsnes Peninsula – West Coast Wonders. Drive north to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. This region is often called "Iceland in Miniature" due to its diverse landscapes. Explore the charming fishing villages like Arnarstapi and Hellnar, walk along the dramatic basalt cliffs, and visit the iconic Kirkjufell mountain (often called the "Arrowhead Mountain" from Game of Thrones!).

  • Day 6: Snaefellsnes Exploration & Return to Reykjavik. Continue exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Consider visiting the black church of Búðir, the seal colony at Ytri Tunga, or the golden sand beach of Djúpalónssandur. Drive back to Reykjavik in the late afternoon.

  • Day 7: Departure. Enjoy a final Icelandic breakfast, perhaps a last-minute souvenir hunt in Reykjavik, before heading to KEF airport for your flight home.

  • Day 14: Departure. Enjoy one last Icelandic moment before heading to Keflavík airport for your flight home, filled with incredible memories of volcanoes, glaciers, and unique landscapes.

Important Iceland Travel Tips

  • Rental Car is Key: For almost all itineraries outside of Reykjavik, a rental car is essential for flexibility and exploring the vast landscapes. Ensure you book well in advance, especially for 4x4 if venturing off paved roads (which is often recommended for the highlands or winter).  We can help you with this at no additional charge to you.

  • Weather Changes Quickly: Iceland's weather is famously unpredictable. Pack layers, waterproof and windproof outer shells, and sturdy hiking boots, no matter the season.

  • Book Accommodations & Tours in Advance: Especially during peak season (June-August) and for popular activities like the Blue Lagoon or glacier hikes, pre-booking is crucial. We can help you with this at no additional charge to you.

  • Northern Lights (Sept-April): If seeing the Aurora Borealis is on your list, plan your trip between September and April. It requires dark skies, clear weather, and solar activity.

  • Highland Roads (F-roads): These are only open in summer (typically June-September) and require a 4x4 vehicle.

  • Respect Nature: Stay on marked paths, don't drive off-road, and never litter. Iceland's nature is fragile.
